A day in the life of…

Bradford Libraries Home Library Service

It’s HiVis Fortnight! HiVis fortnight gives libraries across the UK the opportunity to highlight services and support for those with a vision impairment.

To celebrate HiVis Fortnight 2026 we’re going behind the scenes of Bradford Libraries Home Library Service with our colleague Julian!

Did you know, the Home Library is a free service for anyone living in Bradford District who is physically unable to visit their local library and cannot otherwise access Library services?

We can deliver any item currently on the shelves in Bradford Libraries – straight to your door.

We stock books in a range of formats – many users love our Large Print books and Audio CDs!

It doesn’t matter whether you live independently or in supported accommodation – we can visit you in your home!

Some people may only need us for a short time until they’re back on their feet, while we stay with others for the long term. All are welcome!

Many thanks to Mary, Pat and all our customers. To find out more about the Home Library Service go to www.bradford.gov.uk/libraries and search Home Library Service. You can call us on 01274 433669 or email homelibraryservice@bradford.gov.uk
